Mastering Fat Loss: How Glucose and Insulin Hold the Key to Long-Term Health
Mastering fat loss isn’t just about counting calories or spending hours at the gym—it’s about understanding how your body works on a deeper level. At the heart of successful, sustainable fat loss lies a powerful duo: glucose and insulin. (VERY INFORMATIVE VIDEO BELOW)

These two key players don’t just influence your energy levels; they directly impact your ability to burn fat, maintain muscle, and achieve long-term health. Glucose and insulin also has an affect on your sports performance.

It is my mission to educate myself and my clients. I seek the most qualified people, resources in science and medicine to help me guide my clients to their most successful outcomes in health possible.
One notable metabolic scientist I follow closely, Benjamin Bikman, Ph.D, currently a professor of pathophysiology and a biomedical scientist at Brigham Young University in Utah.
He is also author of a well-known book, ‘Why We Get Sick: The Hidden Epidemic at the Root of Most Chronic Disease―and How to Fight It’.
This incredibly fascinating read opens one’s mind to the real hard evidence. You have the power to take control of your health the more you learn and make the commitment. Dr. Bikman’s articulate, sometimes comedic way of sharing, colorful expressions, relatable metaphors will help you to grasp some of the most complicated scientific findings.

Key Points from the Video:
Understanding Insulin Resistance:
Insulin resistance is a condition where the body’s cells stop responding effectively to insulin, leading to higher blood sugar and insulin levels. This imbalance is at the root of many chronic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s (termed “type 3 diabetes”), hypertension, and infertility.
Insulin acts as a “taxi” (Dr Bikman’s visual metaphor ) for glucose, delivering it to cells for energy. When cells become resistant, insulin struggles to do its job, leading to harmful effects.
Causes of Insulin Resistance:
Fast Causes: Stress, inflammation, and excessive insulin itself can induce insulin resistance
within hours. These causes are reversible once removed.
Slow Causes: Poor diet (high in refined carbs and sugars), sedentary lifestyle, and long-term
obesity contribute to gradual insulin resistance, which takes longer to reverse.
Impact on Health:
Insulin resistance is linked to nearly all major chronic diseases, including heart disease, fatty
liver disease, and reproductive issues like PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome ) and erectile dysfunction.
Ethnic differences in fat storage also influence susceptibility to insulin resistance.
Reversing Insulin Resistance:
Lifestyle changes are key: balanced nutrition, regular exercise (especially strength training),
stress management, and adequate sleep can significantly improve insulin sensitivity.
The Bigger Picture:
Chronic diseases often share a common metabolic root—insulin resistance. Addressing this core issue can prevent or mitigate multiple health problems simultaneously.
If you made it this far, let’s call this a victory in itself!
